An Old Friend Eminem Has Stinging Message
If you’ve heard Fine Line, a cut off Eminem’s Shady XV compilation project, you heard Slim give a shout-out to the Outsidaz , a group of MCs who he worked with before he became one of the culture’s most successful rappers of all time. So, what did Young Zee , one of the Outsidaz, do when he heard about the shout-out?
He penned Dear Shady, a stinging ode to an old friend. On Monday (Jan. 5), Zee dropped a companion video for the response track that features old footage of the crew and a young Eminem. The clip then cuts to Zee alternately writing a letter to the Detroit MC in a notebook and smoking and relaying the bedside tale to a lady friend.
Let me ask you, why you didn’t come to my avenue when you grabbed dudes for your rap crew? Zee rhymes. I paid mad dues.
While Zee had some questions and accusatory verses for Em on the song, he also had a message of reconciliation.
Since you stayed on my floor / Like you said before,' he raps. 'You’re welcome to come still knock on my door.https://soundcloud.com/young-zee-music/dear-shady
The video, which you can view at 2DopeBoyz , also shows Em, Zee and the Outsidaz having fun in the good ol’ days.
Could Dear Shady be a track that further distances two old friends or could it be the spark that brings them together? After all, we've seen Em successfully reunite with Royce Da 5'9,' right?
Time will tell how this pans out, but for now, we can at least bask in some vintage Slim Shady footage and dig back in the crates for his work with the Outsidaz.
