Chris Brown’s Emotional New Song Is For ‘Anybody Dealing With Injustice’

Chris Brown S Emotional New Song Is

In the wake of back-to-back shootings of two black men by white police officers, Chris Brown is leaning on music to deal with his grief.

What is this world without love? Brown asked on Twitter early Thursday before sharing a tender, piano-driven new song, My Friend, and the inspiration behind it: This song I released for free for anybody dealing with injustice or struggle in their lives.

My Friend comes just one day after Philando Castile was shot during a routine traffic stop in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, and two days after Alton Sterling was gunned down outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It’s not clear whether Brown wrote the song in light of those recent events, but its gentleness is still a comforting reprieve from the back-to-back tragic news.

Earlier on Thursday, Brown shared a video on Instagram that shows him reacting to Sterling and Castile’s deaths. This shit needs to stop, he says in the video. Regardless of however the fuck you view me, us as a people need to start coming together and making our voice heard.
