In a zombie apocalypse, a weapon is a must-have, and while traditional weapons like baseball bats and crowbars will keep you alive for a small amount of time, the true survivors are going to be packing custom gear. 'Dead Island' attempts to replicate this with custom weapons designed based on blueprints scattered around the zombie-filled island of Banoi.





These custom weapons require a blueprint to unlock, at which point you can build the weapons at any work bench, presuming you have the ingredients. These usually require a base weapon, paired with seemingly-random objects scattered throughout the world.

Since you often won't know what random objects are of value until you find the blueprint, we thought it would be a good idea to collect all of the blueprints we've found so far and list out their descriptions, as well as the required ingredients to make them. We'll be updating this list as we find more, so stay tuned.

SHOCK MOD

Description: Take a sword, strap a battery to it, and electrocute the undead!

Required Base Weapon: Just about anything with a blade, including knives, machetes and axes.

Required Ingredients: Duct Tape x 2, Wire x 2, Battery x 2

Location: Quest reward for Black Hawk Down quest in Act 1

TOXIC MOD

Description: Dip a blade in some nasty stuff and start slicing away. Zombies will start vomiting, stunning them for a few weapons.

Required Base Weapon: Just about anything with a blade, including knives, machetes and axes.

Required Ingredients: Oleander x 3, Detergent x 3, Suicider Meat x 2, Lemon Juice x 2, Flexible Hose x 2

Location: Found on Helen's desk during the Sacred Silence quest in Act 2

PARALZING STRIKE MOD

Description: While not as damaging as the toxic mod, this will increase the chances of getting zombies to vomit, thus stunning them longer.

Required Base Weapon: Just about anything with a blade, including knives, machetes and axes.

Required Ingredients: Oleander x 2, Detergent x 2

Location: Quest reward for Picture of Bliss quest.

HIGH VOLTAGE MOD

Description: Upgraded version of the Shock Mod.

Required Base Weapon: Just about anything with a blade, including knives, machetes and axes.

Required Ingredients: Duct Tape x 2, Wire x 2, Battery x 3, Electronic Scrap x 2

NAIL'D MOD

Description: Take something wooden and jam some nails into it. Simple as that!

TORCH MOD

Description: Create a homemade torch, useful for setting zombies ablaze.

Required Base Weapon: Any blunt weapon.

Required Ingredients: Rag x 2, Glue x 2, Gas For Lighter x 2

Location: Quest reward for Counsel of Despair quest in Act 1.

NUTS AND BOLTS MOD

Description: Give a blunt weapon some extra force by wrapping it with metal bolts.

Required Base Weapon: Metal bats and batons.

Required Ingredients: Bolts x 2

RIPPER MOD

Description: Take a bat, wire it up to a circular saw and start swinging away!

Required Base Weapon: Wooden baseball bat

Required Ingredients: Duct Tape x 2, Wire x 2, Belt, Large Battery, Circular Blade, Metal Scrap x 2

HEAVY MOD

Description: Give a melee weapon some extra heft and crushing power by tossing some weights on there.

Required Base Weapon: Hammers, sledgehammers, crowbars

Required Ingredients: Weight Plate, Gears, Clamp x 2

Location: Quest reward for Two Hearts quest in Act 1.

IMPACT MOD

Description: Electrify enemies while bashing their brains in.

Required Base Weapon: Any blunt weapon

Required Ingredients: Duct Tape x2, Wire x 2, Battery x 2

PIRANHA MOD

Description: Make zombies bleed by wrapping a powerful blunt weapon with some nasty teeth.

Required Base Weapon: Sledgehammers, mauls, pickaxes

Required Ingredients: Weight Plate, Gears, Blade, Clamp x 2

DEO-BOMB

Description: A timed explosive which can clear a crowd of zombies in no time.

Required Base Weapon: None

MEAT BAIT

Description: A handy distraction which will draw a crowd of zombies to wherever you throw it.

Sticky Bomb

Description: Wish that your grenades didn't roll away from your desired target? Enter the sticky bomb, which combines a knife with an explosive.
