If Gilmore Girls Happened Today, Would Jess And Rory Meet On Tinder?

If Gilmore Girls Happened Today

When Gilmore Girls premiered on the WB back in 2000, it was a much simpler time. 'That's hot' was the ultimate compliment. You hit the '7' key on your flip phone precisely four times to text an 'S.'

Online dating wasn't a thing. Dating apps weren't a thing. Hell, apps weren't even a thing! But what if Gilmore Girls took place in 2016? Pretty much anyone and everyone is on Tinder or Bumble or Hinge or something today. Would Rory ( Alexis Bledel ) and Jess Mariano ( Milo Ventimiglia ) have met via a dating app?

Warner Bros.

Not so much, Ventimiglia told MTV News Thursday, April 21 at the Tribeca Film Festival. The fan-favorite actor is returning to Stars Hollow 'to cause some trouble' -- his exact words -- in Netflix's Gilmore Girls reboot.

'I think Jess was a little too old-school [for a dating app],' Ventimiglia explained. 'Not old-fashioned like in [a] chivalrous, lay-a-coat-over-a-puddle kind of way, but old-school in that he never struck me as the guy who's dependent on a phone. He was analog, he wasn't digital.'

Based on the collage below, this seems about right. When Jess wasn't with Rory, his nose was perpetually buried in a novel.

Warner Bros.

'I think Jess would have probably fallen in love with whoever he bumped into on the street and found a connection with,' Ventimiglia continued, 'or [at] a library or a bookstore or a punk club or something like that. I almost feel like there would have [to be] a moment ... just purely coincidence on the streets.'

So there you have it, guys. Jess just isn't an app dude. (Though if you're curious to see Ventimiglia get his swipe on, he explores the wild world of Grindr in his upcoming digital series Relationship Status , premiering April 29.)

Ventimiglia's also been busy hanging out with the Gilmore squad. He told MTV he's Team Dean, by the way: 'I always say I'm Team Dean, but that's also because I love Jared Padalecki so much. He's the greatest guy in the world.'

Can your heart handle these pics? The adorableness, it's too much.

And what about this recent one of Milo, Scott Patterson , and Sean Gunn?

'It was kind of like visiting your elementary school again, where you see how small the desks are and the lockers and whatnot,' Ventimiglia said about being back on set. 'For me, being on the Warner Bros. lot is very nostalgic. That, I always say, is the studio that raised me. ... I'm excited for people to see what we did.'

So are we, Milo. So are we.
