Lil Wayne Finally Responds Young Thug Doing Carter 6
When Young Thug revealed the release date and cover for his upcoming album, Carter 6 , earlier this week, we, and fans, wondered if it was a move of genius or disrespect -- or, maybe, some of both.
After staying quiet on the situation in the months since Thug first announced his intentions to do Carter 6 through 10 -- which would carry on a series name that Lil Wayne established with Tha Carter through Tha Carter V -- Weezy has now made his feelings clear: It's disrespect.
'Before I go any further, I want y'all to do me a favor and stop listening to songs of n---as that pose naked on they motherf--king album cover,' Tunechi told a crowd during a show in Mississippi on Thursday night.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4QyTX__ldI
The Young Money maestro was referencing Thugger's new Carter 6 album cover, which featured the rapper naked, only covered by some text.
I dunno, ’cause Wayne’s coming out with more albums, Thug told MTV News in September, responding to a rumor that he'd carry on the series' name. I don’t know if he’s gonna name one of them Carter VI . It depends on what he names his album.
'[But if he doesn't], I'm goin'. Carter 6 to 10 .'
Clearly, Thug has decided not to wait to find out.
Tunechi's Tha Carter V still hasn't dropped, as he navigates money issues with his label, Cash Money, and its co-founder, Birdman -- who, by the way, is working closely with Thug (and is standing next to him in the video above). Earlier this year, he filed a $51 million lawsuit against them.
When Thug first emerged, he drew comparisons to Wayne's sound, and in an interview with Complex , admitted that he wanted 'to get in the studio with Wayne more than anybody.' They ended up doing that, and collaborating on 'Take Kare' in October.
From the sound of things, though, that could be the last time we hear these two together.
