Natalie Dormer Wouldnt Rule Outhunger Gamesprequels Under One Condition
Just a few days ago, Jennifer Lawrence voiced some understandable hesitation to the idea of Lionsgate studio heads developing 'Hunger Games' prequels already. After all, the final movie in the franchise -- ' The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 2 ' -- is barely a month old at this point, and J. Law said she believed the studio needs to ' let the body get cold ' first before potentially opening the franchise back up.
But costar Natalie Dormer , who plays the rebel Cressida, isn't dismissing the idea outright. In fact, she could even be persuaded as long as one key person is back at the helm of the project.
'I adore [series author] Suzanne Collins for her bravery and her imagination, and everything that is the success of 'The Hunger Games,' the genesis, it all comes from Suzanne,' Dormer recently said to EW . 'She wrote such a complex world and yet at the same time had so many scenes that deal with all the things we’re struggling with with our own time and zeitgeist.'
'So I’m just a huge fan of Suzanne Collins and her writing,' she continued, 'and I think [Hunger Games producer] Nina Jacobson and [director] Francis Lawrence have both talked about this, but anything prequel, sequel, whatever would have to come from her and her penmanship. So the minute I know that Suzanne is writing something, then yes, my ears would prick up. Almost definitely.'
Though ' almost definitely' is certainly not a guarantee, it's comforting to know that Dormer (and Cressida) could potentially come back if the story were resurrection in some form -- even if that were to mean letting a new Katniss Everdeen into our lives.
