Orlando Bloomtaking Hobbits Isengardas Farewell Legolas
Well, well, well. Look at who's got himself an elvish little sense of humor!
Orlando Bloom has now completed his work on 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again' (for the uninitiated, it's also commonly* referred to as 'The Hobbit 3: Shameless Cash Run'), so to celebrate him putting down that blonde wig and quiver set once and for all, Bloom and director Peter Jackson decided to pay a little homage to some on-point but long forgotten viral funnydom.
Yep, for some reason back in '07, the interwebs thought it would be hilarious to make a mocking song out of Legolas' line 'They're taking the hobbits to Isengard' from 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.' A couple of million views and six years later and Bloom's finally able to have a laugh about it, it seems, because Peter Jackson uploaded this 'Goodbye Orlando' tribute video featuring the actor chiming in in real-time with the tune on Saturday.
'A day after saying goodbye to Gandalf and Tauriel, it was time to farewell Legolas,' Jackson wrote to caption the new vid. 'What a great day it was, with Orlando battling a serious Orc for all 12 hours of shooting - part of the Battle of 5 Armies for the third Hobbit movie. When we finally got the day done, we said goodbye to Orlando, had a couple of beers ... and couldn't resist doing this!'
Sir Ian McKellen , meanwhile, had finished his last bits as Gandalf on Friday with Jackson denoting the occasion via one pouty Facebook pic, captioned rather sappily, 'Seconds ago we finished our last shot with Gandalf. The end of an incredible adventure that began in 1999. I'm feeling very sad right now.'
'The Hobbit' desolates Smaug with part two this Dec. 13 and then comes 'Back Again' into theaters one last time with movie three releasing Dec. 17, 2014.
* We actually just made that up.
