Spongebob Squarepants Plankton Is More Genius Than We Thought
Plankton, Mr. Krabs' arch-enemy on SpongeBob SquarePants , has been trying to get his hands on the Krabby Patty secret formula since 1999. Perhaps one of his most infamous attempts was on the Season 2 episode 'Imitation Krabs,' where he masqueraded as a robotic Mr. Krabs to trick gullible SpongeBob into handing over the formula.
Of course, Plankton's plan was foiled by his own 'coin-operated self-destruct sequence,' which he later pointed out wasn't a great idea. But is that true? According to Reddit user NasalJack , Plankton's plan was actually kind of brilliant. Here's why.
- Mr. Krabs is obsessed with money. Nickelodeon
- Therefore, Mr. Krabs wouldn't be able to destroy Plankton's robotic imposter. Nickelodeon
'Mr. Krabs is famously penny pinching and miserly, so he would never part with even the one cent necessary to destroy Plankton's robot,' NasalJack theorized. So if Mr. Krabs really wanted to stop Plankton, he'd have to sacrifice money to do it — which just would not happen, not now, not ever.
- A total fluke is the reason Plankton's plan was ruined. Nickelodeon
Since Mr. Krabs wouldn't physically be able to stop the Chum Bucket owner, he'd have to rely on his cohorts for assistance. Squidward wouldn't care, because duh, and SpongeBob isn't smart enough to figure out what's going on. I mean, he blasted the clearly real Mr. Krabs with a tarter sauce hose, convinced the robotic Mr. Krabs was legit. SpongeBob's random penny-dropping action is the only reason Plankton's plan failed. Also, do we really believe Mr. Krabs could willingly watch SpongeBob or Squidward 'waste' a penny like that, without interfering? Nope.
