What Is Hot Dog Challenge
Take a moment, shut your eyes and concentrate deeply, because you’re going to need all your focal wits about you to master the Hot Dog Challenge, an optical illusion that’s blowing the internet’s mind.
No, this has nothing to do with Nathan’s dogs or Joey Chestnut or scarfing pounds of meat and bread into your body (thank goodness). The mastermind at work here is Howard Lee , an artist from Aberystwyth, Wales, who has a mesmerizing ability to draw lifelike objects that’ll trick you into thinking they’re real.
Lee’s Hot Dog Drawing Challenge video was first uploaded to YouTube last month but has only recently gone viral. In the minute-long clip, Lee places a drawing of a hot dog next to a real one, and it’s practically impossible to tell which is fake — take a look for yourself:YouTube
Lee then demonstrates how he created the artwork, and his depth and shading techniques are nothing short of fascinating. It all ends with Lee dramatically banging a knife down on the canvas, slicing the real dog in half while the drawing stands still. Mind = blown.
You can see more of Lee’s videos below, including equally impressive ones with chocolate Santas, iPhones, candy canes and tomatoes.
